Right to light

The Rights to Light is that everybody is entitled to have at least half their room lit by natural light and guards against obstruction by new developments.

The Rights of Light is protected under common law, adverse possession and in England and Wales by the Prescription Act 1832. Serious losses in light through obstruction can lead to injunctions being sought, stopping developers with developments, compensation or negotiated changes to the development.

ERS can use a specialised software to model lighting levels, alongside daylight analysis and highlight any risks to the right to light.
